Shocking News: Jeezy Files for Divorce From Jeannie Mai

After a marital journey of two and a half years, rapper Jeezy has initiated divorce proceedings from his wife and former TV host, Jeannie Mai, according to Billboard’s confirmation. The divorce petition was officially filed on Thursday, September 14th, at the Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia. This development was initially reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

It has been disclosed that the couple had a prenuptial agreement in place. In the divorce filing, Jeezy is seeking joint custody of their 1-year-old daughter, Monaco.

The official document reviewed by Billboard indicates that Jeezy and Jeannie Mai are currently “living in a bona fide state of separation.” The rapper asserts that the marriage is “irretrievably broken” and there is “no hope for reconciliation.”

The couple’s journey began in 2018 when they met during Jeannie Mai’s time on “The Real.” Although they initially kept their dating status private, they confirmed their relationship in 2019 and announced their engagement the following year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s restrictions, they shifted their wedding plans from France to their home in Georgia in 2021, hosting an intimate ceremony.

Jeannie Mai shared their perspective on the change in wedding plans, saying, “We were really looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate, but we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID. After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife. So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends.”

In early 2022, Jeezy and Jeannie Mai welcomed their first child, and she joyfully announced the arrival on Instagram, saying, “I asked God for a life of love and happiness. He sent me my family. Baby Jenkins is here.”
